Barbacks for the BMW K1200RS

Originators of the barback concept, Verholen of Germany offers a wide selection of barbacks for your BMW K1200RS. Choose from 30mm, 50mm, 65mm, and 80mm. Keep in mind that if you go longer than 30mm you may or may not have to install a longer brake line. Why? BMW was not exactly "uniform" when cutting lines. Some are longer than others. FYI.. if you need to install a longer line the 97-01 K12RS's REAR brake line is 2" longer than the RS's front line and will work perfectly. No other modifications are necessary. Fits ALL model years. Note: Barbacks are sold only in pairs. Duh.

What length barbacks do you need? That's a good question and one we would be glad to spew advice on. We ALWAYS suggest that you NOT buy barbacks until you have spent some time on the bike. Do NOT judge the RS riding position after coming off another bike until you have aclimated to it. If you then see a need to change them.. we're here. We suggest you start out with 30mm's and then go up from there. If you buy from us and it doesn't help.. send them back (undamaged) and we'll swap you for another length or type. We know, as fellow riders, that getting the correct ergo's is hit or miss. Also.. with any bar backs there is always an issue with your bars coming into contact with the windshield at full lock. Use caution.

Unlike the German made barbacks, the K1200RS New Style Bar Backs made by the American Machine Company not only bring the bars up by 5/8" and back but they also change the angle of the handlebars by 10 degrees making the bars more parallel to the ground for greater riding comfort. With the New Style Barbacks installed, your 98-2001 handlbars will be at about 6 degrees downward slant, instead of the factory 16 degrees. Angle change in degrees is not known for the 2002-03 models as of this writing but our customers tell us the angle change makes all the difference in the world..
